469 Matcha

Matcha, whisked to order, wherever we set up.

Three students from Jesuit Dallas running matcha pop-ups out of a folding table. You order it, you watch us make it, you drink it thirty seconds later.

About

Every place we could get matcha around here was a chain, and it tasted like one. The same cup, the same syrup out of the same bottle, made by someone who had already made four hundred of them that day. It was fine. It just wasn't anybody's.

So we started making it ourselves. 469 Matcha is three students from Jesuit, a folding table, and a whisk.

Nothing sits premade under the table. You order, we make it in front of you, and you get it a few seconds later. That makes us slower than a drive-thru, and we think the drink is worth the extra minute.

Pop-ups happen around school and around Dallas, mostly on weekends and after practice. The next date is at the top of this page and in our Instagram bio.

Daniel Shao

Co-founder, general manager

Started 469 Matcha because everywhere he went for matcha was a chain and none of it felt real. Handles sourcing, pricing, and the question of whether a pop-up actually made money. Senior at Jesuit, and otherwise into movies, friends, and the gym.

Nate Laigo

Co-founder, operations

In it for the face someone makes on the first sip of something he just built. Runs the table, the supplies, and the line when it gets long. Junior at Jesuit, plays volleyball, and still makes matcha on the days we aren't set up anywhere.

Marketing

Ran marketing for his parents' business, tried our matcha once, and asked to join that day. He likes telling people about good things, which is most of the reason you're on this page. Senior at Jesuit, plays games with friends, and runs his non-profit, The Little Necessities.

Book us

We bring the whole setup to you. School events, club meetings, fundraisers, parties, anything around Dallas where people would rather have a matcha than a bottle of water.

Send us the details

The date, roughly how many people you're expecting, and where it is. Rough numbers are fine at this stage.

We come back with a price

Usually the same day. It depends on headcount and how far we're traveling, so there's no flat rate.

We show up and set up

Table, canopy, cups, and everything else. You point us at a spot and we handle the rest.

Questions

The things people ask us at the table.

How do I pay?

Card, tap to pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Zelle. We run a Square reader, so anything that works at a normal shop works with us. We don't take cash.

What milk do you use?

Oat, and only oat right now. Everything on the menu is made with it.

Where do you set up?

Dallas and the suburbs around it. Allen, Plano, Garland, and Irving are all well within range. If you're further out, ask anyway and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it work.

How far ahead should I book you?

Three to four weeks. That gives us time to order supplies and fit your date around school and practice. Shorter notice isn't automatically a no, but it's a harder yes.

Is there a minimum order for events?

Nothing fixed. Around fifty drinks is the size where an event makes the most sense for us, but tell us what you've got and we'll work it out from there.

How do I find out where you'll be next?

The next date is at the top of this page. The time and the exact spot go up on our Instagram story that morning, so following is the surest way to catch us.
